Grilled Mustard Dill Burgers

Grilled Mustard Dill Burgers

Sometimes a condiment works well as a mix-in ingredient, not just as a topping. Here, mustard goes into the burgers as well as on them.

This recipe is lowfat, low-cal, and low-carb, but it’s high in Scandinavian flavor. For a change of pace, use a different mustard or herb.

Ingredients

MAKES 4 BURGERS

  • tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons coarsely chopped fresh dill ¼ cup finely chopped shallots
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 tablespoons plain dry bread crumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • Salt and coarsely ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, mix together the mustard, dill, and shallots.
  • Transfer half that mixture to a medium-size mixing bowl and reserve the rest for topping.
  • Add the turkey, bread crumbs, and egg to the larger bowl and mix until just combined.
  • Form the mixture into 4 patties, each about ½ inch thick.
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • Lightly oil the grill or a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the burgers to the desired degree of doneness, at least medium, about 4 minutes per side.
