The Philly Fusion Phenomenon Burger is a delightful twist on the classic Philly cheesesteak, served in burger form. It combines juicy beef patties with sautéed onions, peppers, and gooey cheese sauce. Here’s a recipe for you to enjoy:

Ingredients:

For the Burger Patties:

  • 5 pounds ground beef (80% lean)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

For the Cheese Sauce:

  • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

For the Sautéed Onions and Peppers:

  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 bell pepper (green, red, or a mix), thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

For Assembling:

  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Mayonnaise or aioli (optional)
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Sliced tomato

Instructions:

    Prepare the Cheese Sauce:

  1. In a saucepan over medium-low heat, combine the shredded provolone cheese, shredded mozzarella cheese, milk, cream cheese, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Stir continuously until the cheeses are melted and the sauce is smooth and creamy.
  3. Remove the cheese sauce from heat and set it aside.

    Sauté the Onions and Peppers:

  1. In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the thinly sliced onions and bell peppers to the skillet.
  3. Season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
  4. Sauté the onions and peppers until they become soft and caramelized, about 10-15 minutes. Stir occasionally.
  5. Remove the skillet from heat and set the sautéed onions and peppers aside.

    Prepare the Burger Patties:

  1. Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and shape them into burger patties.
  2. Season the patties with salt and black pepper.

    Cook the Burger Patties:

  1. Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. If using a grill, lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking.
  3. Grill the burger patties for about 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare to medium doneness.
